Athlete Profile – Gabe Howayek

Gabe Howayek graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 2019, and after playing three seasons with IE, is starting his first season playing baseball at Coffeyville Community College. The infielder shares what playing at Inside Edge meant to him and his development as a baseball player.

Athlete Profile – Dave Silvestri

Dave Silvestri is recognized as the greatest shortstop to play baseball at Mizzou. His efforts earned him first-team all-American awards in 1987 and 1988. In 1988, he was also the starting shortstop on the U.S. Olympic team that won the gold medal at the Seoul Summer Games. His storied career continued after playing for three seasons at Mizzou when the Houston Astros drafted him. He played at the Major League level with the Yankees, Expos, Rangers, Rays, and Angels. After his playing career, Silvestri was a manager in the Tampa Bay Rays organization and the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

Athlete Profile – Avery Rivero

Avery Rivero is that kid–he put in the work and realized his childhood dream of playing baseball in college. Avery, a Lee’s Summit West grad (2019) and North Central Missouri College freshman, shares about his work ethic and why he considers joining Inside Edge 6 years ago to be the best decision he made.

Athlete Profile – Grant Geren

Grant Geren is an all-around amazing athlete. In addition to setting the stolen bases record at Blue Springs South (2019) and being selected an All-Conference All-District, and All-State baseball player his senior year, he also runs a 4.3 40-yard dash in football. We sat down with the Maples Woods freshman to learn more about his experience playing baseball at Inside Edge.

Brock Stewart joined Inside Edge during our first season. His focus on grades (4.33 GPA, 33 ACT) and baseball turned into a great opportunity to attend and play baseball at Maryville University. We sat down with him to hear what it’s like to play baseball in college.

Rylie Rokusek has earned several awards playing baseball and basketball, but he says the greatest one so far is signing a letter of intent to play baseball at State Fair Community College. The Holden, MO native is set to play for the Roadrunners starting this fall and took time to tell his experience of making it to the next level…and a great fishing story.

Dalton Riechers, a 2019 graduate from Platte City High School, joined John Boenker’s team in 2016, and after endless dedication to the game, recently committed to play baseball at Benedictine College. We sat down with Dalton to hear what playing at IE for 3 seasons has meant to him.

Athlete Profile – Ashton Paith

Ashton Paith has experienced a remarkable year. The Ray-Pec senior committed during his Junior year to play baseball at Washburn University only to later learn that he needed surgery on his throwing shoulder. The past year has challenged Ashton, both physically and mentally, but he’s weathered the storm and is ready to take on his last year at Inside Edge.

We’re kicking off the 2019 Player Profiles with a true Inside Edge original. Jackson Boenker joined IE in 2013, playing for one of the original 7 teams. His dedication to development over the past six years has earned him an offer to play baseball at North Central Missouri College.

Athlete Profile – Paul Wendling

Paul Wendling (Bishop Miege, 2018) has committed to play catcher at Indiana State University. His path to playing Division 1 college baseball is a great story for any player who aspires to play at the collegiate level.
