The EDGE Opens In Lee’s Summit
Indoor Baseball and Softball Training Facility Accepting New Athletes
The EDGE, an indoor baseball and softball training facility, has its grand opening on October 14, from 10 AM until Noon.
The opening will include self-guided tours of the facility, demonstrations, a HitTrax Home Run Derby, and the opportunity to watch professional pitchers workout.
“We are excited to show off the facility,” said Todd Clausen, co-founder of The EDGE and director of player development for Inside Edge Baseball Academy. “We have worked hard to design and build a highly functioning space and will use the opening festivities to show how it benefits baseball and softball players of all ages and abilities.”
The Edge, located at the intersection of MO-291 and MO-150, is a 10,000 square-foot facility that features training space for pitchers, hitting tunnels, a HitTrax batting cage simulator, and other amenities aimed at player development. The Edge is operated under a unique partnership between Inside Edge Baseball Academy and Premier Baseball KC. Under the partnership, Premier will use the facility for offering private lessons to the general public, and Inside Edge will utilize the facility and training tools for its academy players.
The address for The Edge is 213 SE State Hwy 150, Lee’s Summit, MO.
In conjunction with the grand opening, The EDGE and Inside Edge are hosting an equipment drive to benefit the RBI program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. RBI players can benefit from gloves, bats, catcher’s gear, batting helmets, baseball pants or cleats. Guest are asked to bring any new or gently used equipment to the grand opening. The RBI program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City gives boys and girls, ages 5-18, the opportunity to play baseball and softball, all the while learning the importance of teamwork, leadership and life skills. The Program was founded in 1996 with partnership from the Kansas City Royals, KCMO Parks & Recreation Department and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
Immediately following the grand opening, Premier Baseball will host pitching, hitting, and fielding clinics for youth and high school players. Clinics will last for approximately 1 hour each and will put players through a variety of drills to improve skills. Clinics are $25 each. All players must register in advance:
Youth players age 9 to 14
High school players
